Fog Is Thick At SXSW

It is year three, as once again Music Fog takes the stage in the Saloon Room at Threadgill's World Headquarters (AKA...the back room, on the stage against the ruby velvet curtains) 301 W. Riverside, in South Austin TX. It is an unofficial showcase so no badges or wristbands are necessary, just a desire to eat some good ol' home cookin', and see some smokin' music. There's no cover charge, and each day's showcase starts late morning and rolls into the early evening.

Music Fog put the four day schedule together, and our cameras will be rolling so we can create gobs of Americana music videos for you to view here at MusicFog.com. Most times we do our thing behind closed doors, but for this gig we invite you to come and hang in the room for our recordings. The Music Fog Motto, after all, is "How Hard Could It Be...?" and the answer, at least when we come to Threadgill's, is "Pretty Damn Easy!" What with onsite parking, air conditioning, any drink of any color that you might want, Southern home-style fare with loads of vegetables, and the ever important indoor plumbing with those fancy new 'no hands' towel machines. I don't know, they just intrigue me! And really, why would you even think of going anywhere else? Start and end times of the sets are listed below! Of course, all times subject to change...but they shouldn't!

Charlie Faye with Will Sexton "Runaround"

It always amazes me that whatever anyone wears for our video shoots just seems to go perfectly with the décor on the Celebrity Coaches bus! And so it was with Charlie Faye, resplendent in claret, with a grey, and great, chapeau, and Will Sexton in a cerulean blue vintage western shirt with an explosion of flowers.

Charlie Faye has been doing something very cool this year, as she has pledged to spend a month in a different city doing an artist residency, performing with a new band in each place. Stops along the way include Tucson, Northampton, MA, Boulder, Milwaukee, LA, and Marshall, NC. For more info, visit her website. Then there is Will Sexton on backup vox and virtuoso guitar. You might have heard that he recently suffered a minor stroke, and we are happy to see that he is performing again. Thank God! A benefit was thrown for him on Monday, February 15th, at Antone's in Austin, TX to offset medical expenses. If you would like to contribute, here is the link. And here comes the tune "Runaround," from Folk Alliance 2010 in Memphis last week.

Todd Snider "Play a Train Song"

On the heels of Memphis, it's easy to forget that we still have lots of great videos to bring you from our trip to Steamboat for the MusicFest! Todd Snider delivers with this great story from his East Nashville Skyline CD. He makes it real easy to paint the pictures in your head. I love the line, "I'd hear him talkin' to some chick through a thick ghost of smoke, through a thicker haze of Southern Comfort and Coke." We all know that guy, right?

Todd is out on tour right now, and even has his live recordings available hours after the performance. Pretty cool to take the memory of the show and the audio with you, huh? Rock on!
