The Trishas "Must Be Time"

The Trishas The Trishas have become women of mystery. Managers have been spotted circling outside their home turf zip code. They joined Raul Malo, at his request, on stage at The Continental Club in Austin after ACL this past Sunday. Are they having the time of their lives exploring the union they have made with each other, and pondering where it will take them next? Sure hope so!

I can hardly wait to see what's in store...but in the meantime, here is "Must Be Time" from the bus, filmed a couple of weeks ago in Nashville.

BettySoo "Never Knew No Love"

BettySoo I run into her at weird places---a wiener dog ranch, on the plane returning home from Nashville, various and sundry other times when I don't expect to.

Her website has unexpected cartoons of her. I think her new album, Heat Sin Water Skin is, in a way, unexpected too. Produced by Gurf Morlix, it has all the grit and groove he brings, but Betty's voice rings through, too. She is heading to Europe later this month, where I am sure she will amaze and delight. Which she did when she came up on the bus during Americana week festivities.

Hot Club of Cowtown "Can't Go On This Way"

Hot Club Hot Club of Cowtown refer to themselves as HCCT. That's probably because they believe in the old adage "less is more."

They learned to keep the mystery by watching Bob Dylan. They understand that you can dazzle with very little, but make sure whatever they're playing comes from the heart. Wishful Thinking is the title of their new album, and they are just coming off dual tours of Australia and the UK. They are also regulars on PBS' Prairie Home Companion.

Hot Club Doggie Hot jazz & western swing is the HCCT moniker. We hear a lot of Bob Wills in their music. So did Bob Dylan---they toured (and survived) with Bob and Willie Nelson. Oh, and Elana brought her doggie on the Celebrity Coaches bus for the performance!
