Amanda Shires w Rod Picott "Angels & Acrobats"

Amanda Shires Of late, Amanda Shires has been on a solo joyride, but hasn't left the band she co-founded, The Thrift Store Cowboys. She did, however, move to Nashville, where she co-produced West Cross Timbers with frequent collaborator Rod Picott.

They are up on the bus for song number two, "Angels and Acrobats," which we played back in the day from Rod Picott's Stray Dogs album. Check it out from the Celebrity Coaches session in Nashville.

porterdavis "Carter's Tune"

Porterdavis I was just tooling around on the web. The white screen of load-in hurts my eyes. I was able to ascertain that porterdavis is heading out west for a date on Saturday at Joshua Tree, that their name comes from two stations in Boston, where they used to busk, and that there is a real estate concern in Australia that has the same name, except with caps and a space.

I can also tell you that a few months back, I hung out with them pre-show in the dressing room at The Granada in Dallas...beautiful theater...and we had the sparkling repartee thing going on. On the bus, they just got down.

Gabriel Kelley "You Kill Me"

Gabriel Kelley Gabriel Kelley and his band The Reins are on a roll. They've picked up management, agency representation, and a songwriting deal since moving to Nashville in 2007, and delivered a six song EP Light at The Bottom in 2008. The new EP is called Stranded In Nashville and is being released on Dualtone digital in the next couple of weeks, as is Light At The Bottom.

They played the Americana Fest with quite a buzz on the full band set at Third & Lindsley, however, we did a solo Gabriel Kelley session, and that is real satisfying too. Here's one of the new songs, "You Kill Me."
