Charlie Robison "Down Again"

Charlie Robison When Charlie came by the bus on the first morning of taping at the Americana Fest, it was raining and we had no umbrellas or ponchos, but there was joy none-the-less. Seeking a seat in a car was the only respite. You do what you have to, or you get wet. I didn't mind the rain, but my hair sure did the frizz city thing! A blow dryer would have been good. "Down Again" is off Charlie's new CD Beautiful Day. It is a totally relatable, catchy, sing-a-long while you ponder the human condition as you get rained on, metaphorically or otherwise! Catch him in Texas in November.

Tara Nevins with The Believers "Temporary Misery"

Tara Nevins at Grassroots It was two songs from The Believers, and two from Tara on the bus in Nashville. They had so much fun working, I wouldn't be surprised if they did shows together! The Believers play Magnolia Fest in Live Oak, FL tomorrow (10/25) then head to Louisville on 11/4 to play The Vernon Club after an in-studio at WFPK. Donna The Buffalo swings through the East Coast in November and December, and it was just announced that they will play MerleFest 2010! From the bus, collaboratively, here's "Temporary Misery."

Cross Canadian Ragweed "To Find My Love"

Ragweed Texas is a many-splendored thing. There are always spectacular choices in music, and this past weekend was no different. Sunday was bright and beautiful. The weather this time of year can be a bit unpredictable from day to night. Warm and then chillier than you might expect. And so it was, as I headed to Whitewater Amphitheater for the 36D Red Dirt Rockettes Come for the Boobs, Stay for the Music benefit concert for Susan B. Komen for the Cure.

CrossCanadianRagweed I got there in time for Ray Wylie Hubbard, and had a wonderful day seeing and hearing old friends Cory Morrow, Jason Boland, Micky & The Motorcars, The Trishas, and Matt King with his smoking new band. Not to mention that Cooper's Barbeque catered, and there ain't no better! Now I knew there was a special guest, but I didn't think about it...that is until the Ragweed guys started filtering in. I was out in the parking lot grabbing my wrap (it started to get cold!) while Jeremy Plato was singing 'To Find My Love" I had flipped the car on to steal some warmth, radio tuned to KNBT/New Braunfels, and the song "To Find My Love" came on while the band was playing it! I love when that happens. Let's bring you our recording of it from last month!
