Dan Navarro "I Don't Believe In Yesterday"

Dan Navarro It has arrived! Keep The Light Alive, Celebrating The Music Of Lowen and Navarro just came out a week ago. It has contributions from lots of amazing artists doing L&N tunes. Jackson Browne, Keb'Mo, John Ondrasik (Five for Fighting), The Refugees and The Bangles are just some of the folks who have contributed. As you might know, Eric Lowen has had to retire as he is ailing from ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).

When Dan was on the bus with us in Nashville this past September, he talked about what a turn around it was to have Jackson Browne record one of their songs instead of the other way around! Dan laid this one down for us...here 'tis!

Sarah Jarosz "Tell Me True"

Sarah+Jarosz I love this. Sarah Jarosz is booked to play The Lizard Lounge Wednesday (November 18th) in Cambridge, MA. There just isn't a better name than Lizard Lounge!

Sarah joined Music Fog on the bus in Nashville during the Americana Conference. She is a prodigal guitarist, mandolin and banjo picker. And she has some pretty powerful friends behind her...Grisman and Skaggs are just a couple to be named. Garrison Keillor is also a big supporter of hers, and has featured her talents on his own Prairie Home Companion.

This is an artist to watch. Signed to Sugar Hill Records in the summer of 2008, her voice has been compared to that of Patty Griffin and she is produced by the legendary Gary Paczosa, who is no slouch himself.

I am not going to say "You go Gir..." But you have to say something just because of her accomplishments in a very short period of time.

Sarah Jarosz - Song Up In Her Head - Tell Me True

Shelley King "Welcome Home"

This was one of those sessions that caught me by surprise, and completely blew me away. I remember looking over at Chris, our lighting engineer, as Shelley was belting out this song and I mouthed the word, "DAMN!" to him. I was completely drowning in her powerful, bluesy vocals, as the passion and presence was knocking me upside the head! Goosebumps were traveling all across the back of my neck, and I'm happy that nothing was lost in the translation from live to video, because I still get them as I watch and listen to this today. Sweetness.

Shelley and subdudes Welcome Home is the title track from Shelley King's new album, which just came out this week, and the project is chock full of rich harmonies and wide sonics that will just melt you. She collaborated with her long-time musical heroes Tim Cook, John Magnie, and Steve Amedée (members of the subdudes) on this CD, which resulted in a marriage that absolutely leaves you wanting more. Sit back in your easy chair, nurse a fine beverage, close your eyes, and Welcome Home.
