MusicFest

East Bound & Down

After an amazing week at The MusicFest in Steamboat Springs, we're headed down the mountain, in route to the east coast via Dallas and Tupelo. A lone hanky tire seems to be giving us problems up the mountain and down. Cold weather...hell on batteries and tires.

Amazingly, the Gondola Concert Series™ did happen before we made a sooner than expected departure from Steamboat. Brandon Jenkins played a three song set; one up, two down. It was -3 degrees, but sunny, when we recorded...Brandon is a madman!

We have just over "forty-two" videos to bring you in the coming weeks, and will continue to attempt uploading new ones during our bus ride eastward. Man, do we ever endorse the iPhone! Just a modern technological piece of wizardry.

More to come!

Todd Snider "Slim Chance"

I am writing this post from an undisclosed location inside our undisclosed location. The Music Fog Crew says I beat up the keys of my laptop because of my nails, and I have been banished from the studio shoot because you can hear me clicking.

Todd Snider is tuning in the other room. The Music Fog crew has been chasing him for a year. Last March, we somehow inherited his hotel room to use as our upload facility in Austin. But he was not there. Then we chased him for a shoot in DC, but it didn't materialize. Kinda like the White Rabbit. We chased him here at Steamboat too, and we weren't sure that he was going to show up until we got the call he was on his way. Yahoo! And now, I am in the other room. Banished. WTF? I can hear through the walls, though, and Todd is playing one off his latest CD The Excitement Plan. "Slim Chance..."

Reckless Kelly with Micky Braun "Snowfall"

The past two days of snowfall has made it especially beautiful here in Steamboat. Gentle, Spiritual. And it means that there will be good skiing and snowboarding, a revered event indeed.

Willy, Cody and Micky Braun would agree, after an anything but peaceful passage to our condo. They took a shuttle, and the driver didn't know where it was. What is a 2 and 1/2 mile road trip took an hour! When they finally got here it was the right time, though, and more magic was to be had, both outside and in.

There are new albums coming from both of the Braun fronted bands, Micky & The Motorcars and Reckless Kelly. More about that later. Right now let's bring you to the mountains in song. Close your eyes...the snow is gently falling on the mountains and pines. It is sticking to your lashes. Stick your tongue out...feel it land? Here is the soundtrack...
