Randy was a guest on the Music Fog bus @ Folk Alliance in Memphis. Now he returns to SXSW with another song off of his new album “Going My Way”. This CD gets a personal big meaty thumbs up from Jessie Scott! And we are told that the pooch on the cover of the CD is a two dimensional rescue dog. Randy is a very busy boy these days. Watch for tour dates here.
Bobby Bare Jr. “Rock & Roll Halloween”
One of the most entertaining sets of SXSW, Bobby Bare Jr. is a force of reason to be reckoned with. He is very afraid of elves. He believes that blue is a flavor and not a color or feeling. Here he sings a song based on a recent visit to Atlanta on Halloween. Still not sold on the present title, Bobby may retitle the song “Night of 1000 Whores." It’s a toe taper. And we are proud to premier it on Music Fog.
Kevin Welch “Marysville”
Kevin was an unscheduled welcomed guest on the Threadgill’s Music Fog stage at SXSW. Before he performed this song, he told the heart-wrenching story of Marysville, an Australian town of 500 that was destroyed in the recent brushfires. Kevin said it only took ten minutes from the time the fire was spotted by townspeople until nothing was left. And 100 had died.
Kane Welch Kaplin was touring Australia at the time of the fires and wanted to do what they could to help. So goes the song “Marysville” written and recorded immediately after the tragedy. The benefit for the victims continues. You can buy your copy of the song here, and continue to help fire victims in Australia.
