There is something so wonderful about folks you can nest with. Today is an homage to love. May you find it and keep it. May it nourish you. Being in love is a spell, the transference of auras, the unseen bond that keeps you magnetized to one another. I had a dream the other night of a loved one who has departed. The dream included a message that wound up coming true later that day. A tad spooky, I know. I am of the belief that we are only privy to as much as our senses will allow us to be aware of, and there is so much more to it all.
Sometimes music can open the door to sensing just beyond your awareness. And sometimes they confuse you in the process. Today’s song is from the pen of Max Johnston of The Gourds. The Gourds are an Austin treasure of multi-instrumental and lyrical goodness. And to watch Kevin Russell do his flying and swooning movements simply brings a flutter to the heart. We had them come by our Music Fog Marathon at Marathon Studios last year during the Americana Conference. Here is Max at the helm for “Haunted,” the original of which you can find on the Old Mad Joy album.
